The Environment
AbsorbItAll Was Engineered For Cold Rooms
Cold Rooms Are Dynamic Systems
Even in well-designed facilities, relative humidity and dew point fluctuate continuously due to door openings, product movement, air circulation patterns, and defrost cycles. These short-term variations occur faster than most refrigeration systems are designed to correct.
Why This Matters To Engineers
When localised relative humidity rises to the dew point, condensation forms on cold surfaces, increasing latent heat load, microbial pressure, and operational instability. Managing these micro-fluctuations is therefore essential to maintaining consistent environmental conditions.

Cold rooms experience rapid, localised relative humidity fluctuations driven by airflow patterns, operational activity, and defrost cycles (even when temperature is controlled).
The Filter Mechanism
The Core Operation of AbsorbItAll
A Passive Mineral-based System
AbsorbItAll filters are positioned in front of ceiling-mounted evaporator fans so that normal room airflow passes over a measured blend of hygroscopic minerals contained within a porous filter bag, acting like a molecular sponge.
These minerals absorb and retain excess free moisture when relative humidity rises, creating a moisture buffer within the cold room environment. This stored moisture acts as a stabilising reserve: when the surrounding air becomes drier, the environment naturally re-balances against the minerals rather than drawing moisture from stored produce.
The result is a passive humidity buffering effect, helping smooth short-term humidity fluctuations without mechanical dehumidification.
Stabilising moisture levels also helps reduce the conditions that allow microbial growth on surfaces and packaging within the cold room.
How This Interacts With Airflow
Because the system works with existing airflow rather than forcing new circulation, it integrates seamlessly into current cold room dynamics without disrupting pressure balance or airflow patterns.

Air moves naturally across the mineral media, enabling passive moisture buffering rather than mechanical extraction.
Recommended Deployment
AbsorbItAll Works Best When Configured To Room Size and Type
Factors That Influence Deplyment
AbsorbItAll deployment is not one-size-fits-all.
Recommended configurations depend on:
-
Room volume
-
Airflow patterns
-
Operational activity level
-
Product type stored

Small to Medium Rooms:
Multiple Ceiling-mounted Filters

Large Rooms:
Forced-air Box System
Deployment is determined by how air moves through the room, how much product is stored, and how variable the operating conditions are. In smaller and medium-sized rooms, multiple ceiling-mounted filters are often sufficient, whereas larger environments may require a forced-air box system to achieve a more controlled and even buffering effect.
Note: Final sizing will be confirmed through site assessment.

What This Means In Practice
Targets excess free moisture in the air

Responds to short-term humidity spikes

Supports stable relative humidity and dew point

Operates without power, controls, or sensors

Works with existing airflow & fridge patterns
The 4 Week Replacement Cycle
Scheduled Maintenance Allows For Reliable Performance and Predictable Budgeting
Predictable Performance, Simple Maintenance
AbsorbItAll operates on a time-based replacement cycle, not sensor-based monitoring. After approximately four weeks of continuous use, filters are replaced to maintain consistent buffering capacity.
This approach enables easy planning, budgeting, and maintenance without additional equipment or monitoring infrastructure.
ASSESSMENT & SIZING
Room size, activity level, product type
PASSIVE OPERATION
continuous moisture buffering
INSTALLATION / FITTINGS
magnetic mounting, no permanent fixtures
SCHEDULED REPLACEMENT
new filters every 4 weeks
Performance depends on correct sizing, placement, and application.
Performance Over Time
AbsorbItAll Results Can Be Measured Over Time
Environmental Intervention is Gradual
AbsorbItAll does not produce instant changes. Stabilisation typically occurs over several days as excess moisture is buffered and airborne compounds are gradually reduced.
The result is a smoother humidity profile with fewer peaks and troughs, reducing the likelihood of repeated condensation events.
Why This Matters For Operations
More stable humidity lowers the frequency of moisture-related disruptions, supporting consistent product quality, hygiene conditions, and cooling efficiency.

Over time, passive buffering helps smooth extreme humidity fluctuations rather than eliminating normal environmental variation.
Before & After: What Stability Looks Like
A More Controlled Cold Room Environment
Wide Fluctuations, Less Controlled Conditions
Before installation, the graph shows larger swings in relative humidity and more pronounced temperature movement.

Tighter Humidity, Faster Temperature Recovery
After installation, the graph shows a much narrower and more stable humidity range and a more consistent temperature cycle.

Case Studies
Specific Data From Real World Use Cases of the AbsorbItAll Filter
Meat Industry
Wheight Loss Test
Supermarket Butchery

A beef forequarter and whole lamb were weighed for a three day period, pre and post the installation of the AbsorbItAll filters. The % weight loss was substantially reduced after the installation of the filters, allowing the client to generate more profit and improve the quality of their meat as it retained more of its natural color, texture and appearance.
Weight Loss Test & Excess Moisture Comparison
Wholesale Butchery
In this wholesale butchery, two hindquarters were cut from the same carcass and placed in two separate cold rooms for five days - one with AbsorbItAll filters fitted, the other without. The % weight loss was 1.24% lower in the cold room fitted with AbsorbItAll filters, thus the hindquarter stored in that cold room was able to generate a higher profit.
Photographed is the cold room before (left) and after (right) the installation of the AbsorbItAll filters.

Excess water has been absorbed by the AbsorbItAll filters. This has two benefits: it enables the cold room to maintain a more stable temperature due to the reduction of latent heat ; it removes the host for bacteria. Staff confirmed that the cold room felt much colder than usual.
Fruit & Vegetable Industry
Shelf Life Test
Vegetable Grower

Celery was harvested, split and placed into two identical cold rooms, one fitted with AbsorbItAll and the other without. The quality and shelf life of the celery in both cold rooms was then analysed for 7 days post harvest.
Cold room 1 (no filters)
Condition = wilted

Cold room 2 (filters)
Condition = good

Relative Humidity & Temperature Comparison
Supermarket Fruit & Veg Cold Room
A relative humidity (blue line) & temperature (black line) logger that takes a reading every ten minutes was installed into the fruit & veg cold room at a supermarket pre-installation (below left) and post-installation (below right) of the AbsorbItAll filters. The straight dotted blue and black reference lines are in the same position on both graphs.
The relative humidity stabilized, reducing produce moisture loss and improving the cooling efficiency of the cold room. The average temperature dropped by 2.3 degrees celsius and as can be seen above, once the temperature spiked upwards it took a much shorter amount of time to return to its desired setting thanks to the stabilized relative humidity and improved cooling efficiency.
